MT. PLEASANT — Henry County Engineer Jake Hotchkiss said crews are continuing their responsibilities on county secondary roads.
During the Henry County Board of Supervisors meeting on Tuesday, Aug. 6, Hotchkiss gave an update that included operators ran blades Monday through Friday last week and prepped dust control two days. Work on White Oak Road continued all week a small ditching project near Swedesburg was also completed. White Oak Road between 208th and 205th street was closed Tuesday morning, but was expected to be opened by the end of the day, once the surface rock was placed.
The W55 Franklin Avenue Bridge will see the last of piling on the North Side and the grading contractor will begin on the South Side soon. The J20 bridge project, near Lowell, is nearing completion as the contractor has completed the piling and is working on abutments and falsework.
The 260th Street twin box culvert project, west of Benton Avenue, has completed concrete work and backfilling and grading to be finished this week. The 260th street project near Gibson Park is underway as equipment was moved in over the weekend with a plan to start cleaning and grubbing the road. The road will be closed on Wednesday, Aug. 7, until the work is complete.
