OLDS – The Henry County Sheriff’s Office reported that a Mt. Pleasant man was arrested after rolling his vehicle on Highway 218 Sunday, Aug. 4.
Todd Jacob Riley, 25, was charged with operating while intoxicated, failure to maintain control and using an electronic communication device.
A news release from the Henry County Sheriff’s Office described how a motorist called 911 at 5:21 a.m. Aug. 4 to report a vehicle sitting in the roadway. The caller attempted to pass the vehicle, when suddenly the operator began to drive and passed the caller at a high rate of speed, nearly hitting the caller’s vehicle.
The caller told authorities that the vehicle, later determined to be driven by Riley, crashed into the median and rolled before coming to rest in the roadway on Highway 218 near 185th Street. Riley declined medical treatment at the scene.
Riley was taken to the Henry County Jail. The Henry County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Mt. Pleasant Police Department.
A criminal charge is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty in a court of law.
