Zelma May Sieren, age 92, of Hedrick, died Saturday, May 11, 2019, at Manor House Care Center in Sigourney.
Zelma was born May 5, 1927, near Richmond, to Bryan and Esther (Chez) Nicholson. She graduated from Keota High School. On August 12, 1946, Zelma married LeRoy "Bill" Sieren. They farmed near Martinsburg, then moved to Hedrick after retirement. She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Sigourney. Zelma loved her family, friends and the big family she married into. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, tending her flowers, sewing and entertaining friends.
Survivors include children: Diane Black of Ottumwa, Debra (Wendall) Essex of Wilton, Martin (Cindy) Sieren and Lynn (Lea) Sieren of Hedrick; six grandchildren; two step grandsons; 16 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband: Bill in 2010; son: Steven; two granddaughters; son-in-law: Donald Black; sister: Margaret Fiala and brother-in-law: Joe Fiala.
Funeral service 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, May 15, 2019, at Powell Funeral Home in Sigourney, with Rev. Charles Fladung officiating. Burial at St. Mary's Cemetery in Sigourney. Visitation 4 - 7 p.m. on Tuesday, May 14, at the funeral home.
