The Washington High School Class of 1974 met for their 45th class reunion the weekend of June 28-30. The weekend began with an informal gathering at JP’s on Friday evening. On Saturday morning, reunion planner Peg Harris had arranged for a tour of the State Theatre, then a tour of the old JC Penney building, which now houses The Village, the Washington Chamber of Commerce, and two apartments.
The main event of the weekend began at 3 p.m. at Lake Darling Lodge, with 60 classmates and spouses in attendance. Special guests were former teacher and coach, Max Cousins, and his wife, Jean. The afternoon was spent in conversation, with a slide show of pictures from high school and previous reunions playing in the background. A table was set up with pictures and flowers in memory of deceased classmates. Sandy (Lewis) Suter paid tribute to the 12 classmates who have been lost, and led the class in prayer before the meal. Mike Schooley served as master of ceremonies, thanking all those who worked on the reunion.
On Sunday morning, 15 classmates and family members met at Dodici’s for brunch.
The chairperson for the 50th reunion to be held in 2024 will be Jean Frazer.
