A Washington student is in custody after bringing a weapon to school on Tuesday, May 14.
The Washington Community School District issued a news release Tuesday afternoon, alerting the public a student had brought a weapon onto school grounds. According to the release, “at no time was there a threat to the safety of students or staff members.”
The District received information that a student may have brought a gun to school and immediately contacted local law enforcement. An investigation conducted by the district and police determined the student, whose name is not being released, was in possession of a gun on school grounds.
The new release states the student is in custody and has been charged with possession of stolen property and carrying a weapon.
