8th grade sweeps

The Washington eighth-grade girls basketball teams won at Ottumwa Monday.

The A team won 28-16 for its first win of the year in its third game. The B team stayed unbeaten in three games with a 28-4 victory.

Kaylin Long led the A team with 11 points, three rebounds and five steals. Other stats were Iris Petersen - five points, five rebounds; Bailey Rees - four points, four rebounds, five steals; Makenna Conrad - two points, six rebounds, two steals; Kenializ Espinosa - two points, three rebounds; Haley Mitchell - two points, two steals; Alex Murphy - two points, six rebounds; Alecia Goff and Samantha Hunger - one rebound each; Anna Collett - one rebound, two steals; Grace Voss - three rebounds, one steal.

Anna Collett led the B team with eight points, two rebounds and four steals. Other stats were Abby Blasingame - four points, three rebounds, two steals; Samantha Hunger - four points, nine rebounds, five steals; Ruby Ponce - four points, one rebound, one steal; Gracey Simmering - four points, two rebounds, one steal; Hayden Janecek - two points, one steal; Alex Murphy - two points, five rebounds, one steal; Kenializ Espinosa - one steal; Makayla Garrelts - one rebound, one steal; Ava Wulf - one rebound.
