BLOOMFIELD — Washington High School lost a softball game Tuesday in the toughest way.
The Demons were leading 5-2 in the bottom of the seventh inning, but Davis County won 7-5 on a walk-off grand slam.
“It was a tough loss,” WHS coach Ben Obermann said. “We played good defense all night and just got beat. We got to tip our cap to them, and use this as a chance to learn. If we channel this loss the right way, it can be turned into a positive for us moving forward.”
Top performers for the Demons at the plate were Kellie Dallmeyer, who was 2 for 3 with a homer and three RBI, Cara Linnenkamp, who had three hits, and Kinsey Duwa, who had two hits. Kaitlyn Mitchell was 1 for 3 and Molly Sparks was 1 for 3.
Linnenkamp went the distance in the circle.
Davis County scored all their runs via the home run.
Washington now has an 11-8 record and hosts Southeast Conference foe Ft. Madison Thursday.
