Alfred C. Nellor, 101, of Mount Pleasant, formerly of Burlington, died at 7:22 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 11, 2021, at the New London Nursing and Rehab in New London.

Born March 30, 1920, in Beemer, Neb., he was the son of Frank Charles and Hattie Anna Frahm Nellor. On March 30, 1947, he married Virginia Lee Peterson in Des Moines, Iowa. She passed away on June 14, 2018, after

71 years of marriage. He graduated in 1937 from Beemer High School, Beemer, Neb., and served in the United States Navy.

Alfred worked in Beemers grocery store, U.S. Navy for three years working at Lockheed, where he worked on airplanes, and for the National Cash Register Co. for 30 years. His favorite pastime was following the stock market. He enjoyed traveling, card games and family reunions.

Survivors include two daughters, Dorene (Roy) Jennings of Austin, Texas, and Debora (Eric) Edmunds of Los Angeles, Calif.; daughter-in-law, Kathy Nellor of Mount Pleasant; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Besides his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents; son, Dennis Nellor; and one sister, Arlene Anderson.

Cremation has been entrusted to the care of Prugh Crematory. The memorial service for Alfred will be 4 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 19, at Prugh-Thielen Funeral Home with Pastor Stan Smelser officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorials have been established for the Fisher House Foundation and the Des Moines County Humane Society. Prugh Funeral Service is in care of the arrangements.
