The Mt. Pleasant Alumni and Friends Pep Band played at the last home basketball game before the Christmas holiday break Tuesday evening in Mt. Pleasant.
“We have been doing this for 15 years now,” said Jim DePriest, Mt. Pleasant Band Director, “It’s just one night a year where former students and friends and come back with us in the pep band. It’s right before Christmas, when a lot of people are home for the holidays.”
“It’s one of my favorite things that we do,” said DePriest. “There are a lot of adults that play, along with the students. So its alumni and friends that play this evening.”
Middle school band director Adam Creager and high school band director Jim DePriest are the coordinators for the event. Music Booster, Dave Schnieder is also involved in setting up the event.
“We always have a lot of fun,” said Schneider, “It’s good to get our instruments out at least once a year to play.”
A good portion of the group also sang the “Star Spangled Banner” before the start of the varsity basketball game.
