Amber Leigh Cook was born May 8th, 1981, to Kevin and Gina (Gillaspie) Cook. She graduated from Fairfield High School in the class of 1999 and quickly moved out on her own. She had a couple of cute little apartments with close friends and their door was always open for drop-ins. She always enjoyed entertaining or just hanging out.
In 2003, Amber moved to Jacksonville, North Carolina where she worked at a bank. When she returned to Iowa in 2005, Amber followed her calling into Nursing and graduated with an AAS-RN from Indian Hills in November of 2008. She spent the next dozen years working in various nursing positions, but she particularly enjoyed working with the elderly population and their loved ones often spoke of Amber’s loving bedside manner and how comfortable she made them feel.
Amber was united in marriage with Nate Wilson on June 10th, 2010, and they had two sons, Hoytt Ethan (18) and Abel Warren (11). She loved talking about her boys and passes on her quick wit and sense of humor to Hoytt and her easily excitable nature to Abel.
Amber enjoyed cooking and trying new recipes, singing loudly to 90’s Gangsta’ Rap and she was always up for a road trip. Amber loved spending time with her family, camping and sitting around the campfire at Lake Rathbun. Prior to her illness, she lived and loved at full capacity. She had a tender heart and was quick to forgive and accept forgiveness.
Amber leaves behind her husband and children, her parents, Gina (Terry) Peters of Fairfield, Kevin (Michele) Cook of Farmington, MN, and 5 siblings; Jessica (Jim) Sirdoreus, Katy (Cody) Pool, Molly Brokken (JD Diers) all of Fairfield, Ian Cook (Jane Lin) and Madi Cook of MN.
She is preceded in death by her grandparents; Warren & Frances Gillaspie and Charlie & Mary Neil.
