Beverly Elaine Hamilton, 85, of Ottumwa, died at 2:58 p.m. January 19, 2022, at Ottumwa Regional Health Center.
Beverly was born Dec. 9, 1936, at St. Joseph Hospital in Ottumwa to Harry and Dorothy Miller Wood. She married Lewis Don Hamilton on August 26, 1961, and he preceded her in death on August 2, 1982.
Growing up in Lockridge, Fairfield and Batavia, she was a graduate of Batavia High School. Beverly had worked at Bailey Office Equipment, Bankers Life and Ottumwa Community Schools, retiring in 2001.
She took tickets for Ottumwa High School sporting events for 35 years and for several years for Indian Hills Community College. She was a great Ottumwa sports fan, cutting out the articles featuring Ottumwa High School athletes to give to them and made cookies for the coaches. She was an avid Iowa Hawkeyes and St. Louis Cardinals fan.
Beverly had been a member of Willard Street United Methodist Church, King's Daughters, Ottumwa Business Women's Association, a former member of Ottumwa Pro Balloon Race Committee, a member of Iowa Retired School Personnel Association and member of Hospice Serving Davis and Wapello Counties Auxiliary.
Surviving is her son, Craig Hamilton of Ottumwa; brother-in-law, Charles Jeffrey of Des Moines; nieces, Randi (Mark) Radosevich and Ricci (Paul) Serck; great-niece, Elizabeth (Alex) Sandviage; and great-nephews, Nicholas and Adam Serck.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Betty Jeffrey.
Visitation will be open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday, January 23, at Reece Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Monday, January 24, at Reece Funeral Home with Dr. Jacqueline Thompson officiating. For those unable to attend, the service may be viewed live on the Reece Funeral Home Facebook page. Burial will be in Ottumwa Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to Ottumwa A-Club or to the family to be designated at a later date.
