BREAKING: Hayes downs Ossian in Iowa House race

Republican Helena Hayes has defeated Democrat Lisa Ossian in the race for Iowa House District 88.
Hayes won in resounding fashion, capturing nearly three-quarters of the vote with 8,450 (74%) compared to Ossian’s 2,976 (26%).
Both women are residents of Mahaska County and have held various positions in that county. According to her website, Hayes has worked as the Mahaska County Conservation Board Naturalist, served as a Mahaska County 4-H Organizational Leader, and poultry superintendent/youth judge throughout the state of Iowa. Ossian is a member of the Oskaloosa City Council, and before that was a community college professor for 30 years.
House District 88 covers the northern half of Jefferson County, all of Keokuk County, and the eastern half of Mahaska County including Oskaloosa.
