The Quarterly Community Pride Award was presented to Dr. Joe Vela, Dr. Kaci Vela and Dr. David Hansen from the Mount Pleasant Area Chamber Alliance on Monday, Nov. 15 at a ribbon-cutting ceremony 4:30 p.m. at the Dental Specialists of Iowa building located at 1804 E. Washington.
Present at the ribbon cutting ceremony were Dr. Joe Vela and members of the Chamber Alliance. Included in the ceremony were members from Orthodontics Associates of Iowa, Endodontic Associates, Oral Surgery Associates, Prosthodontic Associates, Periodontal Associates and the Children’s Pediatric Dental Center of Southeast Iowa.
The Award was created in 2012 to honor chambers business and organizations that display exceptional beautification and exterior improvements to their properties. The sign that was presented will be displayed at the building site for the next three months. “This is a beautiful development on the east side of our community. We are so fortunate that Drs. Joe and Kaci Vela and Dr. David Hansen decided to invest in Mount Pleasant,” said Kristi Perry, Executive Vice President of the Mount Pleasant Area Chamber Alliance.
When asked about how Dental Specialists of Iowa came to be in Mount Pleasant, “It was an easy choice, we wanted for there to be access to care nearby where people live. We wanted to make it easier for our patients to get care when they need it, and not have to drive great distances to do so,” Vela said. “We have specialists in one building, so we have the whole spectrum of dentistry here in one place. We share the office together and learn from each other every day.”
