Joseph R. Ortiz-Hartshorn, 21, of Mount Pleasant, IA, passed away Monday, March 29, 2021, at his home. Visitation will be held Monday, April 5th, from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. at Faith Christian Outreach Church. The family will receive friends from 10:00 until 11:00 a.m. Funeral services will follow at 11:00 a.m. at the Faith Christian Outreach Church, with Pastor Monte Knudsen officiating. Born February 27, 2000, in Burlington, IA, Joseph Rafael was the son of Lorenzo and Candy (Hartshorn) de Ortiz. He loved going to school and graduated from Mt. Pleasant Community High School. Joseph attended Faith Christian Outreach Church. He was always up for a walk, fishing, horseback riding and being read to. Joseph enjoyed drawing and painting. Christmas was a very special time for him. He was a huge fan of everything associated with the Polar Express movie. Animal shows and cartoons were favorites of his.

Survivors include his parents of Mt. Pleasant, IA; and siblings, Ricardo, Joshua (Chandler), Jessica, Joana (Marvin) and Amor.

Joseph was preceded in death by his paternal and maternal grandparents; and brothers, Calvin and Timothy.
