The Washington junior varsity defeated Solon Monday 34-28.
A 53-yard touchdown pass to Spencer Sotelo got the Demons within 7-6.
On the first play of the second quarter, Jacob Miller intercepted a pass and the demons went up 12-7 on a 15-yard diving catch by Dillan Sanders.
Cooper Reed recovered a fumble on Solon's 10. One play later, Sotelo's catch in the corner of the end zone made the score 20-7 Demons.
A muffed punt and a fumble helped Solonm take a 21-20 lead at the half.
'Halftime came at a good time for us,” coach Kelly Williams said. 'We made some minor adjustments,and challenged the guys to come out in the third quarter and play as a team, believe in each other and leave everything on the field.”
On the first defensive series, Miller and Reece Mayer dove on a fumble. Then Zach Stout connected with Collin Greiner for a 21-yard TD pass and a two-point conversion by Greiner to make the score 28-21 Demons.
Logan Frazer scored on a 5-yard run to make it 34-28 Demons.
Midway through the fourth quarter, Miller picked off a deep pass, which helped run time off the clock.
'Coach Nic Williams and I were extremely proud,” Kelly Williams said. 'They hung in there despite several momentum changes.”
