Don’t trespass with drone
Dear public: As a farmer and landowner, I want to let people know that in the eyes of the law, flying a drone over private property is just like you walked onto it. It is illegal to fly a drone over private property without permission. You can be prosecuted for trespassing. This includes farmland and livestock barns.
All drones must be licensed with the FAA, pilots must be certified and also in line of sight of the drone when it’s in operation. Our local sheriff’s department has been notified by landowners of drone-related trespassing and investigations are ongoing.
I ask that you consider how you would feel if a drone flew over your home where your children live and play. We should feel secure on our own land and in our homes. Please be considerate of your fellow neighbors and respect their rights.
