The Mt. Pleasant Community High School National FFA Organization Chapter was approved for an overnight trip to the 94th National FFA Convention in Indianapolis, Indiana.
The convention takes place from Oct. 26 to Oct. 31.
According to Mt. Pleasant agricultural teacher Matthew Jones, the trip is necessary for the FFA chapter to grow along with the students.
“The FFA Convention trip is one that is extremely necessary for not only our chapter to grow but for our students to gain a broader understanding of the world around them,” Jones said in his request to the Mt. Pleasant Community School District school board. “The convention is rich with career exploration as well as leadership development workshops.”
The trip offers students a multitude of opportunities to experience different aspects of the agricultural industry.
The last time the students traveled to the convention in 2019, they visited Churchill Downs, a bee farm, a dairy farm and a Louisville Slugger Factory.
Jones says the FFA is an organization that’s important as it’s designated toward bettering the students and the future of the world. The convention is just another way to achieve that.
