The Enhance Henry County Community Foundation is a local group committed to improving the quality of life throughout Henry County.
The foundation’s charitable giving funds provide a simple way to support local causes and organizations. The foundation is a way to invest in local area nonprofits and a chance to give back to the community.
The foundation is planning a celebration ceremony on Tuesday, Dec. 7, at 11 a.m. at the Union Block Building. The event will mark the 17th year the foundation has awarded grants to local county nonprofits, and charities.
The foundation was awarded $145,443 in county Endowment Funds. Seventy-five percent of these funds will be awarded to Henry County grant applicants, which translates to $132,000 that will be awarded to various groups on Tuesday.
“Each year we give out more than $100,000 in funds. This year is the most that we have given out,” said Paul Dennison, vice president of the Enhance Henry County Foundation. “This is money that comes through the state of Iowa through the gambling proceeds and taxes. There are 89 counties in Iowa that do not have casinos, Henry County is very fortunate to have this money.”
“We have been doing this for a long time, and it has been more than a million dollars that we have given out in Henry County over the course of time,” Dennison added.
