Tiger golf outing will raise funds to move weight room
MT. PLEASANT — It’s not too late to attend the Tiger Athletics’ Golf Outing July 29.
Online registration is now closed, however, teams are still welcome to register in person the day of the event.
The annual event will be held at Sheaffer Memorial Golf Course in Fort Madison beginning with day-of registration at 9 a.m.
Funds raised from the event will go directly toward the renovation and relocation of the Iowa Wesleyan weight room.
This renovation with be the accumulation of a five-year strategic vision for Tiger Athletics as part of their “Committing to Excellence” campaign began in 2017-2018.
According to the Iowa Wesleyan University website, the goal for the plan is to “aggressively advance the University’s NCAA DIII intercollegiate athletics program in the three key areas of growth and competitiveness; visibility and loyalty; and facilities and equipment.”
While the golf outing funds raised will go toward the renovation and relocation, the university has received other funding to help this plan come to fruition.
In November, National Management Resources donated $250,000 for campus improvements and student retention initiatives.
With this gift and the funds raised the university will relocate its weight room from the basement of McKibbin Residence Hall to the first floor of the Howe Student Activity Center to create a more centralized location.
This will make the space more accessible to more students.
Individuals or teams of four are able to register for the event for $125 per individual golfer or $500 for a team of four.
Registration includes a golf cart, lunch and dinner, along with 18 holes of golf.
