Vehicle crash leads to drug investigation and arrest

On Sep. 6, the Henry County Sheriff’s Office and Iowa State Patrol were called to investigate a vehicle crash in Salem.
According to a statement from the Henry County Sheriff’s Office, the investigation determined that several juveniles had taken “acid“ or LSD, which resulted in the crash.
A subsequent investigation was begun.
On Sept. 10, a search warrant was executed in the 400 block of North Golfview Place in Winfield.
Matthew Puumala, 19, of Winfield was arrested and charged with delivery of LSD (Class B felony); possession with intent to deliver LSD (Class B felony); failure to affix drug tax stamp (Class D felony) and possession with intent to deliver marijuana (Class D felony).
The Henry County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Winfield Police Department, Des Moines County Sheriff’s Office and the Iowa State Patrol.
