The Mt. Pleasant Walmart Distribution Center, transportation office and Walmart Mt. Pleasant store donated $3,500 to each the Henry County Sheriff’s Office and the Mt. Pleasant Police Department as part of Walmart’s community grant program.
“Walmart is proud to make donations to both the Sheriff’s Office and the Mt. Pleasant Police Department, whose men and women selflessly serve the communities in which we work and live,” Mike Patten, Walmart Distribution Center general manager, said. “The Henry County Sheriff’s Office and the Mt. Pleasant Police Department were selected because they are critical pieces in keeping our communities safe. It is awesome to be able to present them with the checks to make sure that they are able to further their mission in taking care of the public.”
The funds were gathered by Walmart employees through fundraising efforts coordinated by the employees utilizing the Volunteerism Always Pays program (VAP) and local grants.
“The funds will be going to help fund our Reserve Forces. The donation will help fund gear and extra manpower for our forces on the road,” Sheriff Rich McNamee said.
