On June 30, 2021, Willard Lee Sands of Crawfordsville, passed in peace surrounded by family in his home in Crawfordsville, Iowa. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. on Tuesday, July 6, 2021, at the United Church of Crawfordsville. Burial will
be in Oregon Township Cemetery in Ainsworth. Visitation will be from
10 a.m. until time of service on Tuesday, July 6, 2021, at the church.

Willard was born on October 29, 1932, the son of Frank and Vera Wood Sands in Crawfordsville, Iowa. Willard graduated from Ainsworth High School and joined the Air Force in 1952. Willard was an airplane mechanic; he served this Great Country from 1952 until 1956. In 1956, Willard married the love of his life, Dorothy Ann (Jones), at the Presbyterian Church in Cotter, Iowa. Willard farmed in the Crawfordsville area all of his life, raising crops, sheep, hogs and cattle. Willard was known for always having an immaculate farm. He retired from farming in 2000 and moved to his current address in Crawfordsville.
He is survived by his wife, Dorothy of Crawfordsville; daughter, Virginia Sands of Crawfordsville; son, Dale (Ada Sue) of Cedar Rapids; daughter, LeAnn (Rex) Felts of Crawfordsville; three grandsons, Roy, David and Ryan Felts; great-granddaughter, Izabelle Felts; and great-grandson, Evan Felts.
Willard was a member of the American Legion of Crawfordsville, and the United Church of Crawfordsville. Willard enjoyed tinkering around in his shop, camping, fishing, riding his gator and in his younger years motorcycle riding. Willard will be missed by his wife and children.
