65th Annual West Chester Lions Club Ice Cream Social set for July 7

In our area, summer is filled with many fun events. One of them is the West Chester Lions Club Ice Cream Social.

This year we will be celebrating the 65th Ice Cream Social. Come join us for homemade ice cream and desserts.

It will be held on Thursday, July 7 from 4:30-7 p.m. at the West Chester Heritage Building.

We are a small group of interested individuals that are proud of the West Chester Community and work together to improve our community.

Besides our mission to serve the community, we like to have fun during meetings and events.

Our ice cream social is our main fundraising event of the year. We use the proceeds from this event to undertake many worthwhile projects in our community.

Some of our past projects have included the following:

•Meals on Wheels to community senior citizens during COVID and the winter of 2021.

•Summer Meals Program for children and senior citizens.

•Donated to the West Chester Heritage Association for renovation projects.

•Made multiple contributions to West Chester Families at Christmastime.

•Helped with the West Chester Christmas Gala.

•Donated annually to the West Chester Easter Egg Hunt.

•Funded glasses and hearing aids for senior citizens and children in our community.

•Given out scholarships to graduating high school seniors in our community.

•Made donations to Iowa KidSight which provides families in this area with early detection of eye problems.

•Donated to the area Feed the Kids Mid-Prairie Program which makes nutritious meals available to our community’s children throughout the year.

•Donated to the Mid-Prairie Renaissance Program which recognizes the academic excellence of our community’s high school students.

•Held community Blood Drives for the Mississippi Valley Blood Center.

Come join us for homemade ice cream and desserts at the West Chester Heritage School Building on Thursday, July 7.
