Central Park Coffee opened at its new location after moving from the east side of the square to the north.
The new shop can be found at 111 W. Monroe St., formally the location of Walt’s Taproom.
The sole reason the coffee shop made the move was due to kitchen-size constraints.
“The main reason we left is because the kitchen at the old location was way too small to accommodate the catering,” owner Tina Hill said. “We loved the space, but we kind of outgrew the kitchen area.”
While the new location was an upgrade on the kitchen side of things, many of the regulars were out of sorts because they missed the environment of the previous shop, according to Hill.
Their doubtfulness didn't last long.
“When we made the move they were a little skeptical I think,” Hill said. “But when they came in they absolutely fell in love with it.”
“It turned out to better than we expected.”
The idea of a coffee shop was first started by Hill and her husband, Tim, after their daughter went to college.
They wanted something that they could do into retirement, along with something that was enjoyable.
Everything fell into place.
“News came out that Sip was closing, and it was something we were interested in,” Hill said. “Here we’re three and a half years later.”
Central Park Coffee offers an assortment of baked goods, coffee, breakfast, lunch and desserts. They are open for event reservations, catering and offer their own apparel, gifts, home decor and accessories.
