Chapter L T.T.T. and Lions Club meet

CHAPTER L T.T.T.
Chapter L of the National T.T.T. Society members met Monday, March 24, 2023 at 7 p.m. at the Olds United Church of Christ. The meeting opened with the singing of Sword of Gold.
Roll Call was answered by seven members naming their pet peeve.
The minutes of the February 27, 2023 meeting were read by Nancy McGohan and approved as read.
Correspondence:
President Shelman reported some highlights from the Tidings publication.
1. National T.T.T. Convention schedule was read (October 19-21)
2. National financial update was shared
3. Iowa has ten new members
Missy Fear read notes from two members unable to attend and also shared a conversation she had had with two others. Betty Molander shared that member Louise Unkrich is home for the spring.
The Treasurer's report was given by Missy Fear and will be filed for audit.
COMMITTEE REPORTS:
Camp: Nancy McGohan is working with the school to secure two campers.
Camp, Charity and Camp Girls' Gifts: Nothing to report.
Ways and Means: Karolyn Crawford reminded everyone of upcoming events. Tip night at the Pizza Ranch in Mt. Pleasant is May 8 and the lunch at Addington Place is July 20. Area community members are encouraged to come and support these causes by participating in the events.
NEW BUSINESS: A motion was made, seconded and carried to donate to State and National at this year's convention.
There was no Old Business, Bills for Payment or Proposal of names for Membership.
ADJOURNMENT:
President Shelman thanked those who attended. The next meeting will be Monday, April 24 at 7 p.m. at the home of Marlys Fear, with Marlys as hostess.
The meeting adjourned with the Closing Creed.
Following the meeting dessert was served by Karolyn Crawford.
LIONS CLUB MEETING
The Crawfordsville Lions Club met Monday evening, March 27, 2023 at 6:30 p.m. with 13 members present. President Randy Finke opened the meeting leading the Pledge of Allegiance and Council Chair Love gave the invocation.
Secretary Rose read the minutes of the March 13, 2023 meeting and they were approved as read. Treasurer Finke gave his report.
Old Business: It was reported the Christmas lights had been taken down with help of Lions Davis, Finke and Greene and Rush Brentlinger.
Lion Nancy reported on the District Convention she and Larry attended March 24-25 at Iowa Wesleyan University. Approximately 60 Lions registered for the event. Activities Friday evening included a Pie and Ice Cream Social and participants enjoyed music by A Capella of Mt. Pleasant, a ten member women's group who sang various selections in a "barbershop style." On Saturday morning there was a presentation by James Goff and his Leader Dog. This was followed by games to raise funds for pediatric cancer. Then a Memorial Service before lunch. After lunch, the Past International Director spoke to the group and stated his concerns on finding leadership at all levels of Lionism. The business meeting followed by elections. There will be a special meeting of all Past District Governors of District 9 SE to select someone to be recommended for appointment to the district Governor office by Lions Clubs International . As a fundraiser, Convention Chair Lion Linda Renken had created beautiful baskets for a silent auction.
Lion Nancy also told the club how she was able to present the late Arvid Anderson with his Membership Chevron for being a 70 year Lions Charter Member before he passed and how very proud he was of that.
It was announced that there is still meat for sale and can be purchased by contacting Lion Gene. Sheri Holiday, Lions Youth Exchange Host had contacted the club regarding the need of host families for the youth. They will be in Iowa July 1-23. There are 26 from 19 countries. A motion was made seconded and carried to give $100 to the Lions Youth Camp. Lion Massey presented the slate of officers for the 2023-34 year and they will be voted on at the next meeting. They are : President: Mindy Wilson; 1st Vice President: Scott Davis; 2nd Vice President: Steve Williams; 3rd. Vice President: Billie Jo Rose; Club Administrator: Nancy Love; Secretary: Billie Jo Rose; Treasurer: Randy Finke; Tail Twister: Randy Finke; Lion Tamer: Mike Massey. 1 Year Directors: Larry Swailes and Larry Love; 2 Year Directors: Gene Lintz and Joel Greene.
Following a motion to adjourn Lion Finke entertained with another of his famous quizes.
Lions Lance Miller and Larry Swailes provided refreshments.
CHURCH NEWS
Maundy Thursday services will be held Thursday, April 6 at 7 p.m. at the United Church of Crawfordsville and Good Friday services will follow on Friday, April 7 at 7 p.m. at Ainsworth Community Church. On Easter Sunday, April 9 there will be a Pancake Breakfast and devotions in the Fellowship Hall at the United Church of Crawfordsville at 8 a.m., followed by Easter Worship Service at 9 a.m.
