Free ‘Super Sitter’ class for fifth and sixth graders

Jefferson County Health Center Auxiliary is offering a free babysitting course on Saturday, April 30 at the Fairfield First United Methodist Church, 201 N. Court, from 8 a.m.-noon.
The class open to all fifth and sixth grade boys and girls in Jefferson County. The class is limited to 30 students.
The participants will be given a multiple-choice test at the end of the course and receive a certificate and tote bag. Student are asked to bring a face mask and their own drink.
The Health Care Center Auxiliary offers this course once a year.
Christine Engwall, JCHC health and wellness coordinator, will teach the group first aid and infant/child development skills. The Fairfield Fire Department will share fire safety tips.
Names of students will not be shared for babysitting referrals.
Registration forms will be sent home from schools. To register, send an email to supersitter@yahoo.com with the name of the student and phone number or drop it off a the Jefferson County Health Center or mail to Kathy Horn, 504 E. Washington Ave., Fairfield, IA 52556.
Registration is on a first-come-first-served basis.
Students are required to bring the registration form to the class, with it signed by a parent or guardian and include an emergency contact number.
