Martha Washington Questers No. 1032 minutes
By Connie Pence, Secretary
Jun. 16, 2023 12:15 am
Martha Washington Questers held their May meeting with Martha Russell as hostess. President Jane Fehr opened the meeting and passed around the sign-up sheet for hostesses next year. Vice President Linda Newton led the invocation and business meeting, thanking Martha for opening her home to us.
Secretary Connie Pence took the roll call with all 11 members answering if they knew in which state the Noah’s Ark attraction was built. A fine of 50 cents if they didn’t know or 25 cents if they answered correctly the state of Kentucky.
Connie thanked the group for the get-well card sent her and acknowledged those that filled her position in her absence. April minutes were read and approved on motion by Sally Beezley. Dorothy Miller motion to accept the Treasurer’s report by Virginia Reighard.
Old Business: Discussion of our June outing, which was canceled last year. President Jane suggested we change the months on our calendar adding December (third Friday) and eliminating the June outing. We could instead add an outing in September. Ideas were asked for and the group decided we would make those months’ changes to our calendar. Meeting was adjourned by Linda. Sally then gave the program on her trip to Noah’s Ark.
The museum is near Williamstown, Ky., and opened in July of 2016. As it was an October visit, flowers were still blooming and the ground were beautiful with large animals placed around, occasionally some real ones roaming the fields. As specified in Genesis chapter 1, the ark is three decks high built exactly in the image. Nah and his wife and three sons and their wives are depicted as they lived within. She included many pictures to see the real images of how it was built. It helped explain the living quarters, cages, drawers, food and water vessels, inside gardens, etc. There are elevators and ramps to make easy access, and she said that a good plan would be to see it over several days rather than all one day. There is the Ark Encounter theme park as well. We thank Sally for such an interesting program.
Our meeting ended with Martha and co-hostess Sally serving refreshments. Our next meeting will be in August 2023.
