It is late July and that means most of the corn has tasseled. Dry conditions during the tasseling had farmers on edge. However, some of the fears were alleviated Thursday night when the region received its first meaningful rain in weeks. Mt. Pleasant received over two inches of rain and in the New London area, there were reports of nearly four inches.

Briana-Sue Schlatter and Brady Loyd took home the top prizes in the fair sheep show. Chapter MX, P.E.O. met May 2 at 7:30 p.m. at the home of Jane Cuddeback. President Jane Cuddeback conducted the business meeting. Eleven members responded to roll call. The Exemplification of Initiation was held. Committee reports were given. Several members offered suggestions for the good of the chapter and contributed to the brag box.
