Jack Moore of Brighton went on the Eastern Iowa Honor Flight to Washington, D.C., on Tuesday, May 19. The group of 84 veterans included 77 Korean War-era veterans, four from World War II, and three Vietnam-era veterans along with helpers and tour guides.The flight took off from the Cedar Rapids airport at 7 a.m. Jack was the only local veteran on the flight. Canning season will soon be here and Washington County Extension is offering testing of dial gauge pressure canners. Pressure canners with a dial-type pressure gauge should be tested each year for accuracy. Canner lids will be tested from 9 to 11 a.m. on June 9 and June 23.
