The Washington Public Library kick offs Fiber Arts February this Friday night, Feb. 6 at 7 p.m. with a Macrame Bracelets Workshop with Sandra French. She will be teaching macrame braiding techniques to create unique jewelry of your own. All supplies will be provided and the workshop is free. All ages welcome, but fifth-graders and under must be with an adult. Please stop in to sign up or call 653-2726.

The Washington Soil and Water Conservation District (SWCD) will hold its meeting on Feb. 5, at 7:30 p.m. at the USDA office. The tentative agenda items for the meeting include financial statements, bills for payment, cost share payments and scholarship applications. The meeting is open to the public. Wartburg College has recognized 521 students who made the 2014 Fall Term Dean's List. Those honored include Kathryn Chabal of Washington and Robert Mostek of Washington.The list cites students who earned a cumulative grade point average of 3.5 or above in at least five course credits during the term. Four of the five course credits must be graded with a traditional letter grade.

The three circles of United Presbyterian Women held their meetings in January. Circle III met on Tuesday morning, Jan.13, at the church with six members attending.
