The Eastern Iowa Honor Flight will leave from the Eastern Iowa Airport on Tuesday, April 22, for the first flight of the 2014 season. There will be a total of 83 veterans on this flight plus their guardians. Family and friends are invited to celebrate with Mary Meeks on her 90th birthday in the Morrison Center at Halcyon House (located at 1124 S. Ave. B) from 2 to 4 p.m., Saturday, May 3.Her children will host the event: Mrs. Max Meeks of Republic, Mo.; Mr. and Mrs. Richard Meeks of Mountain Home, Ark; and Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Meeks of Fort Morgan, Colo.Mary would love to see old friends and new. Chapter MX, P.E.O., met at the home of Kathy Hunt on April 7. Fifteen members and one guest were in attendance. President Marj Lins led the business meeting. Jane Cuddeback passed out the new programs for the year. Shirley Pfeifer was recognized as outgoing president. Kathy Hunt gave the program on ?Favorite Word Games.?The next meeting will be at 7:30 p.m. May 5, at the home of Jane Cuddeback.

The Brighton Bear Cub Club gathered Wednesday after school for a fun mix of plant science and nutrition lessons. The main objective of the day was to enjoy the start to spring by learning about tulips.
