In spite of a near zero temperature, seven ?never say die? members of the Tuesday Coffee Club met Jan. 21 at the Hy-Vee for breakfast. Alex Thode of Washington was among those honored on the Lewis University Dean's List for fall semester 2013. Thode was studying Business Administration at Lewis Unviersity. To be eligible for this honor, students must have completed a minimum of 12 semester hours of credit with a grade point average of 3.5 out of a possible 4.0 and with no "D" or "F" grades.

Ben and Debbie Stanton are pleased to announce the birth of their daughter Alma Katherine. She was born at 8:55 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 14, at the Stantons' home on South C Avenue in Washington. Alma weighed 7 pounds, 14 ounces and was 21 inches at birth. She joins proud brothers Sam, 4, and Ray, 2. Grandparents are Lon and Kay Stanton of Topeka, Kan., and Mike and Rita Kirby of Tempe, Ariz.
