Pekin FFA takes home 6th place ribbon at livestock judging

As the year has gone on, we at Pekin FFA have learned and grown as a chapter. We started the 2022 school year with a bang when our Livestock Judging team brought home a 6th place ribbon from the State FFA Livestock Judging Competition.
When school started, we began planning our first chapter project. We organized the 24th Annual Beef Extravaganza Cook-Off Competition during Pekin’s homecoming game. We also hosted a “Feed the Farmer” breakfast to thank our local farmers during the harvest season. It was an event that we will continue to host for years to come and continue to improve upon.
In October, our chapter sent eight students to represent Pekin FFA at the 95th National FFA Convention in Indianapolis, Indiana. Before Christmas, we created four tie-blankets to donate to Sunnybrook Assisted Living in addition to donating some apples, oranges, and pears from our chapter’s fruit sales.
Most recently, at the Iowa Pork Youth Judging Contest, our chapter had a team place 12th out of 162 senior teams. Exciting things in store include FFA contests and Greenhouse Plant Sales! Thanks to our supportive administration and school board, we have been approved for a greenhouse renovation this summer to modernize the greenhouse and increase its opportunities! We are currently accepting donations for the project if anyone is interested in donating. We look forward to continuing to promote and support the agricultural industry as we try new things!
