Feb. 17, 2023 11:37 pm, Updated: Feb. 7, 2024 11:33 pm
Jefferson County Conservation continues to manage 12 different areas (1,400 acres) including 18 miles of trails. You can find more information on these areas at JeffersonCountyConservation.com or call 641-472-4421.
Both cabins located in Jefferson County Park can now be reserved online at JeffersonCountyConservation.com. These two cabins are located at the west end of the campground in Jefferson County Park. The 16-foot by 12-foot cabin sleeps five people and comes equipped with a small refrigerator, microwave, table and chairs, air conditioner, picnic table, potable water supply and campfire ring. A shower-restroom facility is nearby. Cabin No. 1 is handicapped accessible, has a wheelchair ramp, and is closest to the bathroom and parking lot. The cabins are available to rent May through October.
Shelters are also now available for online reservations. Park users can go to our website at JeffersonCountyConservation.com to see the available dates and make their reservation. Shelters may be reserved from the last weekend in April through the end of October. Shelters 1, 2, and the Gazebo will all be available for $20 for the entire day. Shelter 3 will be available for $40 per day. There will be no half day rentals. There will be a $4 processing fee added at the time of payment. Reservations must be made three days in advance of the reserved date.
Jefferson County Park Camping
Twenty-four camp sites are open May 1 through Oct. 31, and include electricity and water. Modern restrooms, hot showers, drinking water, a small shelter house, playground equipment and a trailer waste-dump station are all provided for the camper. The fee for camping in Jefferson County Park is $20 for electricity and water, and $15 without per night.
Mac Coon Access
The 20-site campground includes electricity, pit latrine toilets, a shelter house, rural water, playground equipment, a concrete boat ramp, and a fish cleaning station. In 2017, Mac Coon Access was upgraded to 50-amp service bringing it in line with Jefferson County Park. The fee for camping at Mac Coon Access is $12 with electricity and $9 without per night.
Round Prairie Park
Round Prairie Park Campground has changed to a primitive campground as of January 1, 2023. There is no longer water or electric available. The area is open to public hunting. For more information about this change, please visit our website. On-site registration is required for camping.
The Jefferson County Conservation Board is currently updating its camping rules & regulations. These will be posted this spring.
