With a commitment to exceptional and compassionate care, Jefferson County Health Center (JCHC) stands as a vital healthcare resource, serving Fairfield and the surrounding areas. Established in 1912, JCHC serves as Iowa’s oldest county hospital and has consistently evolved to meet the diverse healthcare needs of the community.
Averaging more than 21,000 patient visits each month, JCHC’s commitment to excellence is reflected in its range of services from family, pediatric, preventive, surgical, oncology, emergent and rehabilitative care. The health center is a cornerstone of health and extends its reach with locations in Fairfield and Richland, Iowa, providing essential healthcare services for individuals and families.
Bryan Hunger, Chief Executive Officer of JCHC, emphasizes the institution’s commitment to health and well-being, stating, “Our commitment extends beyond treatment, prioritizing all aspects of health from preventative care to rehabilitation. Our goal is to ensure that every individual in our community has access to the comprehensive care they need.”
Unwavering in its commitment to enhancing the quality and accessibility of healthcare services, JCHC actively recruits and welcomes new providers. This past year has seen the invaluable additions of primary care providers, Dr. Richard Curtis, MD, Dr. Grant Landon, DO, and nurse practitioners, Mallory Hoover, ARNP, and Stacy Walker, ARNP. Furthermore, Dr. James Trent, MD has taken on the role of Hospitalist, ensuring dedicated care within the inpatient setting, while Dr. AJ Friessen, DO, Orthopedic Surgeon, has brought specialized expertise to JCHC. The addition of these healthcare professionals reflects JCHC’s dedication to sustaining and growing comprehensive healthcare options to the community.
Beyond the services, JCHC is an integral part of the communities we serve, actively engaging with local partners through sponsorship, volunteerism, and fundraising efforts. JCHC hosts monthly internal fundraisers, providing staff an opportunity to support area non-profit groups. Additionally, JCHC participates in more than 50 events and activities each year, directly benefiting various organizations.
As a healthcare institution, JCHC not only works to restore physical well-being but also strengthens the fabric of our community, embodying the spirit of collaboration and care that makes our corner of Southeast Iowa a healthier and more vibrant place to live.
