What is Visit Fairfield CVB?
(and why it matters more than you think)

Southeast Iowa Union offers audio versions of articles using Instaread. Some words may be mispronounced.
You may not think of Fairfield as a “tourist town,” but here’s the quiet truth. People choose Fairfield on purpose.
Every year, visitors come from across Iowa and the surrounding region to eat, explore, attend events, shop, attend performances, visit friends, tour the university, or simply experience the town’s distinct character. They often blend right in. You might pass them on the square, sit next to them at dinner, or chat with them at the farmers market without realizing they are here by choice.
That is where Visit Fairfield Convention & Visitors Bureau comes in.
What the CVB does
Visit Fairfield CVB is the community’s destination marketing organization. Its job is to make sure Fairfield is visible, appealing, and easy to choose for visitors who are deciding where to spend their time and money.
That work includes:
- Marketing Fairfield to travelers through digital campaigns, print, media coverage, and partnerships
- Producing visitor guides, itineraries, event listings, and online resources
- Supporting local events, attractions, arts, and cultural experiences www.fairfield365.com
- Working with hotels, restaurants, shops, and venues to strengthen the visitor experience
- Welcoming visitors and helping them discover what makes Fairfield worth exploring
Why it matters locally
Visitor spending is not abstract. It is measurable and meaningful.
Each year, visitors generate more than $22 million in direct spending in Fairfield and Jefferson County. That money supports local businesses, helps sustain restaurants and shops, creates jobs, and contributes to the tax base that benefits the entire community.
Visitors help keep doors open, stages lit, and events viable.
A different way to think about “tourism”
Tourism in Fairfield does not look like tour buses and souvenir shops. It looks like:
- A couple driving in for a show at the Arts & Convention Center
- Friends meeting for a weekend of food, art, and shopping
- Families attending a festival or fair
- Visitors drawn by music, culture, wellness, or curiosity
They come because Fairfield feels real. Creative. Lived in.
Visit Fairfield CVB works every day to attract these visitors and make sure their experience reflects the best of the community. When tourism is done well, it does not change a town. It supports it.
And chances are, it is already working quietly all around you.
