Firefighters from throughout the region conducted live-fire training over the weekend with the Iowa Interior Fire Training Unit, which was brought to Brighton for the training. Fire departments, including Fairfield, Brighton, Washington and Crawfordsville, sent teams to be training on the two-story smoke trailer. The program was held by the Iowa Fire Services Training Bureau.

Two rows of clothesline rope strung between two stumps help support the more than 10-foot tall sunflowers at the home of Ana Victoria Braun. Braun said the flowers have really grown with the heat and plentiful sunshine.
