The Fairfield Community School District Board of Directors is planning to add an elevator at Fairfield Middle School to make the building more compliant with the Americans With Disabilities Act.Currently the building has a chairlift that carries people between the first and second floors, but it is wearing out and upkeep is expensive, partly because maintenance workers have to travel from out of state.Tyler Riley

The Greater Fairfield Area Habitat for Humanity broke ground on its ninth house May 3. More than 125 tractors are expected to participate in the ninth annual Greater Southeast Iowa Tractor Ride Wednesday through Sept. 10.The ride will begin Wednesday, with the tractors departing from downtown Milton at 8 a.m. The morning break will be in Keosauqua, followed by lunch in Donnellson.  The day ends in Keokuk with dinner at the Keokuk KC Hall.Thursday, the tractors will depart at 8 a.m. from the mall
