The Fairfield City Council has approved a bid of about $7.3 million to build a new fire station at the corner of North Fourth and West Briggs.

Fairfield resident Therese Cummiskey was the guest speaker at an adoption ceremony Saturday, Nov. 23 in the Wapello County Courthouse in Ottumwa. Cummiskey was invited to speak by the judge who presided over the ceremony, fellow Fairfield resident Pat McAvan, who is an associate judge for the Eighth Judicial District.

Jefferson County Cattlemen want the public to know about a couple of deadlines that are quickly approaching, one for the organization’s banquet and another for its annual scholarship.

Members of the Downtown Resource Center visited Fairfield Nov. 19-21 and gave a presentation of their findings on their third and final day. Among other suggestions, the board members recommended Fairfield undo its one-way streets, and add events in the spring.
