One thousand items. That’s about how many individually packaged pie pieces, bars and cookies PEO Chapter MB of Fairfield prepared for their food booth during RAGBRAI’s stop here on Friday, July 26. The massive undertaking was accomplished by the club’s members and friends baking at home, hoping to raise money for women to pursue education.
RAGBRAI is no ordinary bicycle ride. The event draws thrill-seeking cyclists from all over the country who want to test their mettle on a week-long ride where they travel close to 500 miles.
The event was less than a day, but it took months of preparation for RAGBRAI’s visit to Fairfield to go off without a hitch.
The 51st rendition of RAGBRAI attracted riders from across the country and even from other countries, like the Biebrich family from Winnipeg, Canada, who stood out from the crowd thanks to their jerseys that displayed the Canadian flag.
