Washington Co. extension offering caregiver class
Sep. 16, 2022 12:15 am
The Washington County ISU Extension Service is offering a program called “Powerful Tools for Caregivers,” an educational series designed to give professionals in the field help taking care of themselves.
“This program helps family caregivers reduce stress, improve self-confidence, improve communication, balance their lives, increase their ability to make tough decisions, and locate helpful resources,” a news release from the extension office said.
The caregiver class consists of six sessions held once a week. Two class leaders conduct the series, many of whom are experienced caregivers themselves, who have successfully applied the techniques they teach. Interactive lessons, discussions and brainstorming aim to help participants take the tools they choose and put them into action.
Participants will receive a book, “The Caregiver Helpbook,” weekly handouts, and helpful resources. The program is supported by Moore Towing, The Halcyon House and the Washington County Extension Office.
Class size is limited, and preregistration is required, https://go.iastate.edu/7PFMT4
Classes will be held at The Halcyon House in the Game Room just off the Applewood Bistro, from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Sessions are held every Thursday and begin on Oct. 13. Those interested can contact the Halcyon House or the Washington County Extension Office for more information, or to register.
