MPCSD is the largest school district in Henry County and the 36th largest of Iowa’s 370 public school system with approximately 1,800 students. MPCSD is known for its academic accolades, athletic accomplishments and outstanding fine arts programs.
The district operates one comprehensive high school, one alternative high school; Wisdom Quest, one middle school, and four elementary schools; Van Allen, Lincoln, Harlan and Salem
The district provides a full range of services appropriate to students’ grades preschool through 12th grade. These services include regular and enriched academic education, advanced placement classes, educational support for children with learning needs, talented and gifted programming, vocational education, and numerous individualized programs such as specialized instruction for students at-risk and for limited English-speaking students. Mt. Pleasant Community High School and Middle School also offer iJAG programming to students.

WACO Community School District

The mission of the WACO Community School District is to develop responsible, productive citizens who view learning as a lifelong process. WACO's educational environment encourages continuous improvement, problem-solving, measurable outcomes, and community involvement.
The WACO CSD provides education to students in parts of Henry, Washington, and Louisa Counties and the towns of Wayland, Crawfordsville and Olds along with surrounding rural areas. Through a four-day school week which runs Monday-Thursday, WACO teaches students from preschool through 12th grade in two buildings: WACO Jr./Sr. High School located in Wayland and WACO Elementary School located in Crawfordsville.
Outside of classes WACO Jr./Sr. High School students keep busy with activities such as Lego League, National Honor Society, fine arts, and sports.
WACO currently shares Superintendent Spencer Lueders with Highland Community School District located just down the road in Riverside.

With a student/teacher ratio of 10.13, Winfield-Mt. Union provides learning opportunities to students from preschool through 12th grade in one school building on South Olive Street. Karinda Wahls fills the positions of WMU CSD Superintendent and elementary principal. Gaige Gill works alongside her as the middle/high school principal.
The school district offers career and technical programs in Agricultural Education, Business Education, Family and Consumer Sciences Education, and Industrial Education.
Through pep rallies, community partnerships, and High-Five Fridays WMU extends a sense of community to their student body. Students may further involve themselves through participation in activities ranging from sports to music to theater to FFA. The district transitioned to a four-day school week running primarily Tuesday-Friday.
