The Dover Historical Society was established in 1995 following the gift of the former glove factory-creamery building for a museum. The Society has endeavored to keep alive the history of the surrounding area by exhibiting artifacts and offering programs for all ages. Both permanent and changing exhibits provide students and adults a view to the past. An extensive resource library exists to aid research about family genealogy, Henry County records, plat books and maps plus some records of the surrounding counties and communities.

The Lewelling Quaker Museum is designed to preserve and promote the historic events and lessons of the Lewelling-Gibbs House which is a part of the National Underground Railroad Network to Freedom. The museum gives insight to Quaker foundations of life west of the Mississippi River, the abolition of slavery and the underground railroad and the origins of the Pacific fruit industry from Salem, Iowa and the Oregon Trail.

Come visit the Heritage Museums where you can step back into our agricultural heritage. Climb aboard one of the many traction steam engines, including the largest steam engine — a Case 110. Sit behind the wheel of an antique tractor or take a look at the Stationary Steam Engines featuring a Murray Corliss engine display.
Museum A features the Traction Steam Engines, Tractors, and the Bussey Doll Collection, while Museum B offers detailed exhibits and displays.

Built in 1973, the museum is dedicated to the history of Tent Theatre in America. The museum is dedicated to the preservation of memorabilia and artifacts of early repertoire theatre. The collection includes numerous painted curtains and scenic pieces; costumes and equipment used by individual performers and technicians; playbills, show cards, advertising sheets, etc.; and an extensive research library of rare scripts, correspondence, tour schedules, production photos and other original source materials.

The Harlan-Lincoln House name comes from two families who lived in the home and the relationship shared between them. As an Abraham Lincoln site, the house showcases stories of Lincoln and his descendants. Additionally, the home contains stories of former Iowa Senator James Harlan, an early Iowa Wesleyan University president.
