FAIRFIELD – Fairfield Dental Clinic welcomed Dr. Matt Holt two years ago, joining Dr. Patrick Jones in the clinic that began in the 1960s.
Fairfield Dental Clinic has gone through a few changes in ownership over the years since its founding by Drs. Singley and Carter six decades ago. Carter bought out Singley, and hired Dr. Stephen VanTasell to replace him when he retired.
Dr. VanTasell was responsible for bringing Dr. Marty Gleason to town, and the two worked together for 30 years, with VanTasell retiring in 2015. VanTasell sold his half of the practice to Dr. Pat Jones, and when it was time for Dr. Gleason to retire in 2022, Dr. Matt Holt purchased his half of the business.
Today, Dr. Pat Jones and Dr. Matt Holt are aided by four dental hygienists, three assistants and practice administrator Denise Hall. They do full, comprehensive dentistry for those aged 1.5 years and up. Dr. Jones said the clinic just added an intraoral scanner, which will eliminate the need for taking molds of a person’s mouth.
“Instead of taking those impressions of crowns and bridges, which are a mouthful and no one enjoys, this will allow us to use a high-speed camera to check all that out,” Dr. Jones said.
Another new service at Fairfield Dental Clinic is Dr. Matt Holt starting to offer sleep medicine, intraoral appliances for those with sleep apnea. Dr. Jones said patients would need a physician’s referral, and Dr. Matt would ask for a sleep study on the patient. If the patient qualifies, they could receive an appliance that moves their jaw forward to help them breathe while they sleep.
Fairfield Dental Clinic sees patients Monday through Thursday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., and two Fridays per month from 8 a.m. to noon. Dr. Pat said he and Dr. Matt often use their Fridays to take courses in continuing dentistry education to stay current on their certifications.
