FAIRFIELD — Fairfield Tire and Service is a leader in tire sales and services, and has been recognized as one of Tire Review Magazine’s Top Shops in the Nation.
But the business does much more than just tires. Janice Hyde of Fairfield Tire and Service said the business does all forms of automotive services and repairs.
“I’ve had so many people tell me, ‘Oh, I didn’t know you did oil changes,’” she said.
Those services include working on brakes, fixing struts, tire alignments, air conditioning, and alternators, just to name a few.
“Anything that needs to be repaired on a car, I can do,” Janice said.
Keith Hyde started the business with partners in 1990, and in 2003 he bought out those partners to become the sole proprietor. Janice Hyde said the business has grown in those 33 years, starting out with four bays compared to the seven it has now.
In August 2021, Fairfield Tire and Service was profiled in Tire Review Magazine, and a copy of the article was made into a plaque that hangs in the business’s lobby. The article noted the business has sponsored a Little League team for more than 30 years, and that it sponsors trophies at the Greater Jefferson County Fair and local car show.
There’s one major shift on the horizon for the company, and that is for Keith and Janice’s son Josh to take over the business. They said that change will occur gradually in the coming months as Josh takes on more leadership responsibilities.
Janice said the part of the job she enjoys most is dealing with customers. She said the company’s motto is that Fairfield Tire is a place where “customers are treated like friends.”
