The West Side Tap is a staple in Mt. Pleasant ever since it’s grand opening in 1921, originally owned by Carl Stith, the current owner’s great grandfather.
Now owned by Troy Stith, Carl Stith’s great grandson, the bar is looking even better after a renovation three years ago.
“Business has been extrodinary, even this year after COVID once we were able to open up to full capacity people we’re enjoying getting out and socializing,” Stith said.
After Carl Stith’s passing, the business moved onto his son, Max Stith. Then after his retirement he passed it on to his son, Terry Stith, and to Terry’s sister, Sandra Stith. Finally it ended in the hand’s of current owner Troy Stith in 2003.
With all of that family history built into one bar, it is truly family owned and operated.
“Business has always been good, but now better than ever now that people are not as scared of COVID,” Stith said.
This summer they will celebrate 100 years of being owned and operated by the Stith family in Mt. Pleasant.
