WACO goes 4-0 in tourney, Cardinal, Columbus 2-2

NORTH ENGLISH - The Labor Day weekend meant volleyball for three area teams. Cardinal (2-2) went 2-2 at English Valleys Saturday as did Columbus (6-5) while WACO was 4-0 to improve to 8-1 on the season.
WACO downed Columbus 21-7, 21-15, cruised past Tri-County 21-7, 21-2, dispatched Sigourney 21-9, 21-11 and battled Davis County 21-13, 25-23. For the four matches combined, Aubri Garnsey had 43 assists, Morgan Graber 25 kills with Molly McLaughlin and Kaylee Shelman combining for 41 digs.
Cardinal lost to East Marshall 21-15, 16-21, 15-6 and Sigourney 21-11, 19-21, 15-12 but defeated English Valleys 21-18, 21-15 and Columbus 21-12, 21-17. Elizabeth Lett had 54 digs on the day. Kiya Chapin had three blocks and 21 kills. Trista Benedict hit 15 kills and Olivia Pilcher put up 45 assists.
Columbus routed English Valleys 21-6, 21-12, edged East Marshall 21-19, 21-16 and lost to Cardinal and WACO.
Columbus (6-5) Emma Milder snagged 27 digs. Jobie Lekwa had nine kills, 14 assists and three blocks. Sera Vela had 11 assists and four blocks. Olivia Carrier produced 25 digs and 14 kills. Victoria Howell had 18 digs.
