Williamsburg fiber optic to be operational by October
From staff reports
Sep. 14, 2022 10:24 am
An update on the city’s fiber optic service opened the Sept. 12 meeting of the Williamsburg City Council.
Scott Schabacker, CTC Technology, Victor, said they have leveled, seeded and restored the disturbed areas back to normal but will review them in the spring. Testing has started on the fiber optic service and they plan to have it fully operational in October. They will be getting the information out again to the residents to sign up for the service; only about 250 have signed up but about 1,200 installations of equipment have been completed. Next spring they will be doing landscaping around their compound building.
Police Chief Justin Parsons went through the current ATV/UTV ordinance the city has in place compared the new laws passed by the state. Sections: 1. A, 2.C., 2. F, and 2. I of the city code will be revised to better match the state code. City attorney Eric Tindal will have a draft for the next council meeting for review.
Chief Parsons submitted the August report for the police department. Officer Perry is doing well at the academy. Multiple agencies in the county have been going to the schools and reviewing their emergency plans. The County Board of Supervisors and City of Marengo all voted in favor of the shared mental health liaison.
Chief Parsons is still waiting on the quote for the updated security system for city hall/police department. An entry way remodel to city hall is in the beginning stages of discussion due to recent events.
City Manager’s Report
City Manager Aaron Sandersfeld submitted the written August public works report. Street patching and 86 locates were done. Compost was hauled to the Disterhoft site.
