American Revolution Traveling Exhibit coming to Mt. Pleasant
LETTER TO THE EDITOR

From Tuesday, Oct. 28 through Wednesday, November 12 a wonderful exercise in patriotism comes to Mt. Pleasant.
All citizens and those yearning to be citizens, should mark their calendars to visit the American Revolution Exhibit that will be on display at the Veterans Hall, 300 West Monroe Street.
Hosted by our local chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution, the James Harlan Chapter, and the American Battlefield Trust this exhibit is traveling the country as we near our 250th year as a nation.
Why is this important?
It is clear there exists great division in America. This disharmony is painful and distressing to us all. In a sense, it is as if we have lost our way as citizens joined together in a common bond and remarkable Constitution that guides us as a nation.
This exhibit is an opportunity for renewal. It is time we thoughtfully reflect on why and how we became the United States of America and to remember the remarkable patriots who courageously and wisely shaped our freedom, governance and civil liberties.
Hours are: Mondays: 10 a.m. — 4 p.m.; Tuesdays — Fridays: 10 a.m. — 6 p.m.; Saturdays; 10 a.m. — 4 p.m. and Sundays, noon — 4 p.m. A brief Opening Reception will be held Saturday, Nov. 1 at 10:30 a.m.
Dads and moms, school principals and teachers, pastors and employers, civic and youth leaders … mark your calendar. Turn off social media and tune out cable news. This will be time well spent.
Dave Helman, Salem
