To the editor:
It was recently reported in your paper that the Greater Jefferson County Foundation received a distribution from the T.L. and Dorothy Henderson Trust.
The Fairfield community is well aware of T.L. and Dorothy's distinguished careers and contributions in business, education, government, bowling, and the iconic Fairfield Kids Day.
I want your readers to know that Iowa Wesleyan University has been equally blessed by a generous distribution from the Trust and the generous participation of T.L. and Dorothy in the life of the University. T.L. and Dorothy were both graduates and their son, Karl, and T.L.'s mother, Mildred, were as well. T.L. received the Distinguished Alumni Award in 2000 after serving 19 years on the Board
of the Iowa Wesleyan Alumni Association, two as president. Dorothy also served on the Alumni Board and as a class agent and on other alumni committees. T.L. and Dorothy were ever-present participants at Homecoming and other campus events.
Because of the loyalty and generosity of T.L. and Dorothy Henderson and others, Iowa Wesleyan University is able to continue its vital educational mission for students in Fairfield, Mt. Pleasant, Washington and all of Southeast Iowa.
- Jim Pedrick (Iowa Wesleyan Class of 1980), Development Director at Iowa Wesleyan University
